Client and Lawyer shot in courtroom

"An angry husband shot dead his estranged wife and her lawyer as they were waiting for the judge to hear an annulment case inside a courtroom in Las PiƱas City Thursday, police said.

Alan Tubale, 53, pulled out a gun and fired on Lolita Tubale, 51, and her lawyer, Rebecca Basas, 57, as they waited for the hearing to start, said Senior Inspector Jan Dale Sulit, chief of the city police station investigation division."

This happened about a week ago. It is indeed sad but at the same time scary. A courtroom, or a courthouse for that matter, is supposed to be -for lack of a better word- scared, one of the places people are expected to respect. It is a sad time for our country, where convicts are pardoned without them showing any remorse for their crimes, where bombs go off in places where security should be tight, and where incidents like the aforementioned happen. And to top it off, the suspect was able to escape due to the commotion. If it weren't so tragic, it would have been a comedy of errors.

With these occurrences, one question comes to mind: Where is our country headed to?
