book 7. limey spoilers.

So i was able to finish reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows last night (more like early today). It took me about 6 hrs, i started from 9pm til about 3:15 in the morning. I read it straight partly because i couldn't put the book down and partly because that's how i read, i try to finish it in one sitting -- i also have no concept of time whenever i read.

I'm still digesting some of the things that have happened, specially the deaths sad it's not all butterflies and rainbows. Yes, a couple of loved characters dies crycry If you're like me and get so involved with what you're reading or if you're a serious fan, have a couple of tissues ready and prepare for a good crying session. Although it had a pretty positive ending -- what did you expect? -- the deaths left a really sour note in my mouth. Yes, i'm feeling a bit gloomy. But it has a really good twist, and since it's the last installment in the series, it answers all the questions you might have and then some.

Oh well, try and have a good read. Enjoy the book, savor each word, and hopefully by the end you'll feel a sort of bittersweet moment like i did.

the lady in red.

It's that time of the political season na naman. At syempre i couldn't help myself, i watched the SONA of that little lady from Malacanang, lalo na walang akong class. Every time there is a SONA, i try to watch or at least listen to it. Last year may klase ako so i just read the speech and watched bits and pieces from the news. I can't help but wonder why some people aren't interested in watching or even listening. I know she's probably BS-ing us, nagpapaganda, nagbubuhat ng sariling bangko, and all that crap, pero really, what do you expect? A normal person would of course show and tell her achievements and not her failures. Common sense people! The whole world is watching and you're going to admit to all your kapalpakans? Haler! Only a fool or a really, really noble and humble person would do that -- and where can we find such a person in the world, much less in the PI It's not a waste of time for me, it's a way of gauging how far from reality politicians really are Ok i'm generalizing, sorry haha, peace dun sa mga brods at sis kong may hawak na govt position.

I know there are some who really try to do their job. But the system eats you up. Politics is dirty; it's supposed to be that way. I've never heard of anyone saying that politics is clean-cut. And people are always saying wala nang ginawa kungdi mag-debate ang mga politiko. It's about time you realize that the political arena is just that, full of debates and compromising and grandstanding and all that crap, lalo na we follow a democratic system of government. Yes we have to admit that the political system we have is quite dismal. But look on the bright side. At least we're not known for having wrestling matches sa Congress, unlike an asian country i saw on the news na naman kanina. Nagbabatuhan ng silya, pati mga babae Nakakapanglumo. Pero let's not give up. I always believe that while we become more cynical as we grow older, we should also have a little bit of idealism left in us. Kung lahat tayo ay may mindset na wag maniwala, wag sumunod, wag makinig, wag makialam, saan pupulutin ang bansa natin?

I can't help but wonder lang, yung mga nagbabatikos sa presidente, have they tried working with her? Yung tipong supportahan muna yung mga programs and reforms nya before nilang batikusin? The way i see it kasi, bago pa man makita yung effect ng programs and reforms ng kung sinong politiko eh kinokontra naman agad ng kaaway nya, without giving it a chance to work. Di ba better kung batikusin mo pag talagang nag-fail? At least may basis ang pang-ngangakngak mo diba, hindi yung puro speculations. Ang this goes for all politicians. Ah well, this brings to mind a quote from John Stuart Mill which goes, "Every great movement must experience three stages: ridicule, discussion, adoption."

And so i leave this blog with another quote this time from Robert Stanfield, a former conservative leader and premier of Nova Scotia:

"These are the people we elected
and if we are not satisfied
we should get new candidates.

It is in our hands.
It is our country.

It is a very simplistic view
that politicians are to blame
for everything."

Viruses is the plural of virus NOT virii.

Whinning ahead. If you can't stand it, don't read. exclaim

======

So I got caught in the rain last friday. As a consequence, i am now suffering from influenza. My head is aching, my throat hurts, my muscles are sore, i have a runny nose, and i cough like i have tb (joke lang, wala namang blood). I'm miserable and i'd love company. I've been drinking gallons of water and am now taking vitamin c.

======

To make things worse, it's prelims week. Why couldn't i have been sick last week or next week? Ang swerte nga naman. confused

======

I saw the newest Harry Potter film last Sunday. I didn't enjoy watching it kasi umpisa nung trangkaso ko, so yes, miserable ako nung buong palabas. All i could think about was going home and getting a good rest. Kung hindi lang nakabili na ng ticket yung kapatid ko nagyaya na siguro ako umuwi. So i might watch it again this weekend, if i have any money left. Syempre kkb na, hindi na sya funded ng magulang ko.

======

Why was i caught in the rain? Kabobohan, walang dalang payong. Although, may dala akong windbreaker, na feeling ko eh sapat nang proteksyon sa ulan.

======

I went home early today. Dalawa dapat yung class ko kaso i asked permission from my professor sa pangalawa kong class from attending kasi i'm feeling really bad. Buti mabait sya at pinayagan ako.

======

Bakit ako online if masakit katawan ko? Because i'm feeling the need to vent out my frustrations and misery. Walang ibang makikinig sakin dito sa bahay so sa cyberspace na lang. Keber kung walang nagbabasa nito. I'm feeling a tiny bit better na just from this. So if you're reading thanks. Nakikisimpatya man kayo or hindi, salamat parin.

======

Since nag-co-commute lang ako, may nahawaan na kaya ako? Every time i cough naman i cover my mouth.

======

Lesson? Mag vitamin c na kayo. At magdala parati ng payong. Better yet, wag mag marunong tulad ko at sumugod sa ulan. wink

======

I do remember seeing Stardust during the previews. Looks promising, kahit na si Claire Danes yung star/Yvaine (yes, may issue ako with her). Plenty of big stars like Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro, and Peter O'Toole. They even have Ian McKellen (Gandalf!) as the narrator. And they filmed in the Scottish Highlands (i HAVE to go there someday). Sana lang hindi nila ni-butcher yung novel.

Pumapatak na naman ang ulan

Kisses of silver drops
falling from the sky.

======

"Splash," said a raindrop

As it fell upon my hat.
"Splash," said another
As it trickled down my back.
"You are very rude," I said
As i looked up to the sky;

Then another raindrop splashed

Right into my eye!

abakada guro party list vs sec ermita

So i finally found the case i was looking for. And yeah, it's only 300+ pages. And it's due tomorrow cry

So, yeah. I think i'll go pray now.

======
8.44 pm
sa wakas

I finally finished digesting the cases. Seemed impossible really but i had help. I searched online for a copy of the resolution. I admit, i wasn't able to read the whole case. Are you kidding me? Contrary to what i've been telling people, i have no superpowers
lol But kidding aside, i dug into old digests from Beda, searched the www, and even asked for help from a brod. Yes, i was that desperate. It's times like these where one's resourcefulness comes out. So yeah, i didn't read the whole thing. Hello, consolidated cases kaya sya! I only read the pertinent parts, looked for the issue related to our subject, then copied the SC's ruling. Hahaha.

Pika...chu?

I got called again for recitations. I was a bit apprehensive because i wasn't as prepared as i would have wanted. I guess i got a little bit delinquent in studying for the class because i was already called last meeting. Ok, so i thought i wouldn't be called anymore. That's what i get for thinking razz.

======

Good thing my professor remembered that i recited already. What happened was he also called my fraternity brother who, like me, already recited the last time. He said, "O diba nag-recite ka na? Bakit nakatayo ka pa?" to which my bro just laughed. And then he said, "Sir, sya rin po," meaning me. God bless him for saying that!
lol So Atty. Ribo remembered then told me to sit down also. Salamat kapatid!

======

I remember the entry before this that i was having apprehensions about wearing the color of the day. Our professor is well-known for calling students based on what they're wearing for the day. Last time he called all those who wore collared shirts. And from there told several to sit down -- those wearing blue and brown, i think. I wore red that day. But that was okay, even though the first half of my recitation was a bit tagilid, i'm pretty sure i redeemed myself after the break. Sana...

Did i mention that my mother is going to Sweden? She was picked by the Swedish gov't along with four other Filipinos as representatives for some conference. I've been going green with envy, kasi after the conference they will be touring some neighboring countries. Hay, all those castles and of course, Ale's Stones. It's not as well-known as Stonehenge but it's just as mysterious.

======

I still haven't found that one case i have been searching online for. Where the hell art thou 127 SCRA 768?
evil

======

I'd better text my group leader.

======

I bet you googled Ale's Stone
lolwink. If you didn't, here's a photo courtesy of cyberspace:

Ahas1: Makamagdag ba tayo? (Snake1:Are we poisonous?)

Ahas2: Ewan ko. Bakit? (Snake2:I'm not sure. Why?)

Ahas1: Nakagat ko kasi dila ko eh. Kinakabahan ako... (Snake1:I bit my tongue. I'm getting a bit nervous...)

before going to school

So my class starts at 3 and i'm still at home. I'm online looking for some cases i need to digest by midnight tonight and i'm stuck looking for this one case. Argh! I suppose i would have to look for it the hard way, i. e. use the SCRA at the library. Haha tamad talaga. Oh well, i'll be on my way. I hope i'm not wearing the color of the day.

Ciao,

hmm...

...i have class tomorrow, what am i doing online?

Iskool bukol

I didn't have classes today. I should be jumping up and down with joy but i find myself mildly irritated. Not only was it a waste of time, it's also a waste of money. I have two classes today, the first of which starts at 12pm. At around 1:45 we concluded that our professor wouldn't be meeting us (our class ends at 2). Seeing that i had the same professor for my second class, logic dictates that he wouldn't be there also. BUT seeing as i'm in law school, i can't assume anything. As the saying goes, it'll just make an ass out of u and me. It's so irritating. Bakit ba ganun ang ibang professors? They're supposed to set an example to their students so why couldn't they extend at least some sort of courtesy to us. We're in post-grad school for pete's sake. A little consideration would go a loooong way. Hay, at least i was able to sign the attendance sheet. Then i heard from an upperclassman na wala naman daw kwenta dun sa particular prof namin yun. Haha. Sayang lang yung baon ko for the day. I could have spent the day preparing for tomorrow's class. Or digesting cases for admin law. Or watched Transformers again mrgreen

I'm pretty sure hindi lang sa law school nangyayari yung mga ganitong cases. During my college days, when the professor was late for 15 mins (or even less), we would leave the room. Yun yung school policy eh. Sometimes if we see the professor on the way to class we would use another route in order to avoid seeing him/her. Kupal haha. I'm assuming we have the same assignment for next week so at least hindi na ko mashadong magbabasa, cause i spent the day reading for my second class. Grr talaga! I could have spent the day digesting the cases assigned to me sa admin sad Tomorrow at midnight na sya due eh. Hay buhay. I guess i just have to chalk it up na lang as one of the pains of law school.

Weekend toons

Watching Transformers made me miss a lot of cartoons i used to watch as a child, lalo na the original voice actor was cast for Prime (trivia: sya rin yung narrator and voice actor for a couple of Voltron characters). There was G. I. Joe, Visionaries, Saber Rider et al, Thundercats, Dino-Riders, Care Bears, Rainbow Brite, and Smurfs to name a few. Hay, nakaka-miss talaga sila, lalo na yung Visionaries. Too bad lang it only lasted for 13 episodes (13 nga ba?).

Watching all of those cartoons, many of which were japanese, was probably a foreshadowing of my interest in anime now. Who could forget Voltes V, Mazinger Z, Daimos, Voltron (Hyakujuu-ou Golion), and of course, Tetsuwan Atomu a.k.a Astro Boy. Which brings to mind super sentais like the Kamen Rider and Ultraman series hehe. Too bad they don't show the latest anymore. Syempre the best for me is Bioman pa rin. Maskman/Hikari Sentai Masukuman comes a close second (Michael Joe!). I've even seen Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, which you'll find silly if you're not a fan of the anime. Well, suffice it to say i liked it very much and was able to appreciate it. I even recognized some jokes only fans would get. Hehe. Specially those regarding the Shitennou. Lol moments grabe. Ok, now i'm humming the intro for Bioman... Choudenshi... Bioman!

Check out this site, their list is extensive. Click their "You might be a child of the 80's if..." link. I lol-ed pretty much reading it. I think they're undergoing site maintenance so not all the links work. But seeing the list of cartoons is worth it. Sana they make a movie out of G. I. Joe. It's pretty much workable naman. I'd love to see Snake Eyes in action again.

Transformers 2007 -- spoilers galore. Be warned.

So, i was finally able to watch the new Transformers film. I am a fan of the Generation 1 series so i really had high expectations like the rest of the fans. Graphics-wise, it impressed. In fact, i want to see it again. And again. And again. Makes me hope that they make a Gundam movie next. Haha.

I have to say though, even though the Decepticons outnumbered the Autobots, the mere fact that Bumblebee and Starscream were there gave me a
big happy. And making Starscream an F-22 Raptor? How cool is that! I'd have wanted to see Bumblebee (BEE-OTCH!) in his original form but i understand the need to modernize. The homage at the dealership was enough for me. What happened to Jazz, however, broke my heart. When Megatron was killed, one word came to mind: Galvatron! And then i thought, omg si Starscream na ang leader ng Decepticons? Ok, so probably temporary lang yun, if ever. Given that, it might not be the last time we see those who "perished". It clearly paves the way for Galvatron *insert evil laugh*. Before i forget though, where the hell was Hot Rod? I'd have thought he'd be in the first film, assuming there would be sequels. But i guess if all of them were already in the beginning, there wouldn't be much to look forward to in the sequels right?

How was Megatron able to "copy" a modern jet and why wasn't he a gun/canon? Hindi naman pwedeng he got it 80 or 70 years ago kasi modern yung plane. And i'm assuming na hindi Raptor yun kasi Starscream is already one. If they're both Raptors it's bringing their rivalry to a different level na. Besides, they don't look the same. Kudos to the writers for Megatron's line "You have failed me yet again, Starscream" or something like that because it was a good nod to the rivalry between them. And also for casting Peter Cullen as the voice of Prime, yey! When he spoke at the beginning, i thought of Voltron haha. Weird lang, i didn't recognize Hugo Weaving's voice
mrgreen
